How it moves

  1. ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation)

    Issues the record

  2. Back to you

ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation) posts the record to the residential address it has on file for your licence - not to an address you give us. It never passes through us.

What is included

  • One payment, to us. You never enter card details on a government site.
  • We check what you enter against the published requirements before it is filed.
  • Nothing physical passes through us. The ministry posts the record to the address on your licence; you post nothing, and neither do we.
  • If it is rejected for something fixable, we tell you plainly and resubmit once at no extra service fee.
  • If we get your request wrong or never file it, you get everything back, fee included.

Common questions

What is an Ontario driver's abstract?
It is the Ontario government's record of your driving history, issued by Ministry of Transportation of Ontario. "Driver's abstract" is the ministry's own term for it; the same document is called a 5-year driver record, a five-year driver record, a 5 year driving record.
Is a driver's abstract the same thing as a driving record?
Yes. They are two names for one document, and nothing about what you receive changes depending on which word you searched for. Ontario paperwork tends to say "driver record", people tend to say "abstract", and outside Canada the same thing is usually called a motor vehicle record or MVR.
What does the five-year driver record show?
Ministry of Transportation of Ontario describes the record as containing: Driver identification details; Demerit point total; Convictions, suspensions and reinstatements under the Highway Traffic Act for the past 3 years and under the Criminal Code of Canada for the past 5 years. That is the ministry's own wording, checked on 2026-09-07.
What is not on it?
The ministry lists what the five-year driver record does not include: The driver's address; Driver's education courses. The missing address is the important one - a record that carries an address is a different product, and only the driver themselves or an authorised requestor under contract with the ministry may order it.
How much does the Ontario five-year driver record cost?
$40.00 in total through us. That is the whole price: one charge, nothing added at checkout, no subscription and no renewal.
How long does it take?
ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation) processes the order within 15 business days and then posts the record by Canada Post to the address it has on file for your licence, so allow 21-30 days in all. We place the same online order the ministry offers everyone; nothing we do makes it faster, and we do not claim otherwise.
Do I have to be the driver to order this record?
ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation) states: "A driver can order any longer-term record, letter or document for themselves." So this is your own record, ordered with your own licence number, and the ministry posts it to the address it holds for that licence. We order it for you as your agent and never receive it.
Is this the certified copy with the ministry's seal?
No. This is the uncertified record. Five-year driver record, certified (with the ministry's seal) is processed by the ministry within 15 business days and then posted. We sell only the uncertified one; if a court has asked you for a certified copy, this is not it.
What do I need to order?
Three things: your Ontario driver's licence number, an email address for your receipt and updates (the record itself is posted by the ministry, not emailed), and the province or state you live in. No name, no date of birth and no address - ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation) finds this record from the licence number alone, and your card details are entered on our payment processor's own page, never on ours. Fifteen characters, one letter then fourteen digits, shown on your licence as A1234-56789-01234. It must be your own: the ministry issues this record to the driver, and posts it to the address on that licence.
