Ontario driver’s abstract guides
Everything here answers a question someone actually asks about the Ontario driving record. Each page carries no price, sells nothing, and cites the Government of Ontario page it was checked against, with the date.
Where a fact could not be found on a ministry page, the guide says so in a “what we could not confirm” section rather than filling the gap with something plausible. That is deliberate: an invented source is worse than an admitted one, because it looks verified.

What is a driver's abstract? The Ontario driving record, explained
A driver's abstract is the Ministry of Transportation's record of your driving history: convictions, suspensions and your demerit point total. Ontario paperwork calls the same document a driver record.

-
How far back each Ontario driver record goes, and which one to order
Four Ontario driving records, compared by reach - three years, three with five for Criminal Code convictions, or five of commercial driving - by who may order them, and by how they arrive. Only one is instant.

What the 3-year Ontario driver record shows, and what it leaves out
The 3-year record covers convictions, suspensions, reinstatements and your demerit point total for the past three years. It does not carry your address, your beginner driver education, or expired medical suspensions.

Certified vs uncertified Ontario driving record: the difference
The difference between a certified and an uncertified Ontario driving record is the ministry's seal, not the information. The certified one is processed within 15 business days and posted; the uncertified one arrives as a PDF by email immediately.

How to read an Ontario driver record: convictions, suspensions and demerit points
Convictions, suspensions and demerit points are three separate things on three separate clocks. Points come off two years from the offence date; the conviction that produced them can outlast them.

Ontario driver's licence number format: the 15 characters, explained
An Ontario driver's licence number is one letter followed by fourteen digits, fifteen characters in all. It is the only identifier the ministry needs to produce a 3-year driver record, which is why Ontario needs no consent form where other provinces do.

What to do when your Ontario driver record is wrong
Where the error came from decides who fixes it. A conviction recorded in error is the court's to correct; identification details are the ministry's.

How long does an Ontario driver's abstract take?
The uncertified 3-year record ordered online is emailed immediately. Everything else - certified, or ordered by mail - is processed within 15 business days and posted.

Who is allowed to order an Ontario driver record
Ontario restricts the record type, not the requester. Anyone can order a 3-year record with a licence number; anything showing an address, and the licence history, are restricted.

-
Ontario demerit points: the full table, and how they come off
Every Ontario demerit point value from 2 to 7, the offences behind each, the two-year clock that runs from the offence date, and the 6, 9 and 15-point thresholds for a full licence.

How to get a certified driver's abstract in Ontario, and what the seal changes
A certified 3-year driver record is processed by the ministry within 15 business days and posted by Canada Post to the address given on the order. It is the same information as the uncertified record, with the ministry's seal.

-
The Ontario 5-year driver record: what it adds to the 3-year one, and how it arrives
The 5-year driver record adds Criminal Code convictions from the past 5 years to the 3-year record. It is ordered by the driver for themselves, and is processed within 15 business days and posted to the address the ministry has on file.

What a CVOR driver abstract is, who can order one, and how it arrives
A CVOR driver abstract is the ministry's five-year record of a commercial driver's collisions, safety-related offences, convictions and inspections in Ontario. It is available to the general public against a licence number, and is shown on screen to whoever orders it.

CVOR driver abstract or 3-year driver record: which one you were asked for
The 3-year driver record is any driver's convictions, suspensions and demerit points; the CVOR driver abstract is five years of a driver's commercial-vehicle collisions, offences, convictions and inspections in Ontario. They are two different products and are delivered differently.

None of these is a substitute for ServiceOntario (Ministry of Transportation)’s own pages, which every guide cites by name and by date in its own sources list.
